Warning of flash floods and landslides in areas in Phu Tho

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just issued a warning offlash floods,landslides,and land subsidence due to heavy rain or water flow inPhu Tho.
The news was released at 2:30 p.m. on July 22, stating that in the past 4 hours (from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.), Phu Tho province had moderate to heavy rain such as: Doan Ket 81mm, Trung Thanh 64mm,…
Soil moisture models show that some areas in Phu Tho province are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
The news warns that in the next 3 – 6 hours, Phu Tho province will continue to have rain with common accumulated rainfall from 20 – 50mm, some places over 100mm.
In the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in the above provinces, especially in the following communes/wards:
Muong Thang, Quy Duc, Tan Lac; An Binh, Cao Phong, Cao Son, Da Bac, Dai Dong, Kim Boi, Lac Luong, Lai Dong, Lien Son, Luong Son, Mai Chau, Mai Ha, Muong Bi, Muong Dong, Muong Hoa, Nut Son, Ngoc Son, P. Hoa Binh, P. Ky Son, P. Thong Nhat, Pa Co, Tan Mai, Tan Pheo, Thinh Minh, Thung Nai, Thuong Coc, Tien Phong, Toan Thang, Van Son, Xuan Dai, Yen Son, Yen Thuy (mainly in the old Hoa Binh province area).
Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or water flow: Level 1.
According to the warning, flash floods and landslides can have a very negative impact on the environment, threatening people’s lives; causing local traffic congestion, affecting the movement of vehicles; destroying civil and economic works, causing damage to production activities and socio-economic activities.
Therefore, it is recommended that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to take preventive and response measures.
